Ethiopia sends 16 to prison for trying to create new state

By Associated Press

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (The Washington Post) — An Ethiopian court has sentenced 16 people to prison after finding them guilty of trying to create a separate state in the tense Oromia region. All 16 are members of the outlawed Oromo Liberation Front. They received sentences of four to 13 years.

The Ethiopian Federal High Court said in its ruling Tuesday the members tried to carry out terrorist acts across the country and supported other group members in remote parts of Oromia.

The region has been a hotspot for anti-government protests that began in November 2015. The protests later spread across the country and demanded wider political freedoms and the release of political prisoners.

The protests led to the killings of hundreds of people and the declaration of a nationwide state of emergency that remains in effect.

And are Adargachew Tsege, Eskinder Nega, Bekele Gerba, Dr. Merera Gudina and many other prominent adivocators wanted to create a separate state when they were jailed and tortured by Woyane’s cangaroo court ? Woyane is a compulsive liar.

Since Ethiopian government led by Aggaamee/Wayyaanee in Finfinnee is a colonial and illegal government occupying Oromia, it is illegal and colonial government. Therefore, it has no legal right to imprison neither touch any single Oromian. As the result, Oromians should intensify their struggle under the leadership of the Oromoo Liberation Front, chaired by Obbo Dawwud Ibsaa Ayyaanaa to destroy Ethiopian government in Oromia and bring the perpetrators of the violations of Oromians right to peaceful life in their own country.

    Hmmm….

We better not cry day and night about colonialism only for not being able to unite and reduce the over inflated 6% tplf to its real size even with out a single shot. We better do some home work and meditation and then do reality check concerning the correlation of forces and balance of current powers. Otherwise we will keep talking the same talking we have been talking for the last 100 years as if the world have stopped moving.

When we look into the statement “An Ethiopian court has sentenced 16 people to prison after finding them guilty of trying to create a separate state in the tense Oromia region. All 16 are members of the outlawed Oromo Liberation Front.; They received sentences of four to 13 years””, which one is the real crime?. Is It being member of OLF or to create a separate state? Can16 men establish a state or is it to terorize the people not to raise such question? Who is violating the constitution?

I think the system of bringing political change starting from days of the monarch are questionable. All of them resulted in a blood shed and in chaos. The current, one, apart from already incurred most foolish mess, is also awaiting for the cruelest bloodshed, which the Western society may not be aware because the government suffocated the people and the cover up from their own corrupt men who are involved in bribery (as an example a US women diplomat involved in visa briber and removed by US govt later).

Who are these men behind the so called “bringing a political change”. I think they are the same person who were active in all the three regimes. Nobody can expect from the current parliament, its speaker or the prime minister to have a power to defend themselves even against the atrocities committed to them personally. All government offices and business in the country are filled with such type of submissive men where they are controlled and managed not as human being but a robot. As a result it may be difficult for Western countries to know the real situation in the country.

The political change also never occurred with their so called efforts. The reason for the fall of the monarch was the rise of socialism in whole world and for Dergue the disintegration of USSR which was the main and only financier to it.

In the current government, they further were able to control every activity of people tightly by deceiving the Western countries, to the extent of making them support directly and indirectly their cruel criminal activities. If they have worked truly to bring change in this country, it shouldn’t have taken more than a quarter of a century even without any result. They never wanted to listen to idea of bringing a smooth change by allowing the other ethnics to share a political power which they instead did the 2005 electoral theft.

This time they have very much assured themselves of their ability of controlling the people and deceiving the Western. Had it not been so, the government could have given much weight to the negotiation to be made with the oppostions parties, at least as our neighbour(Sudan) did , such as releasing all political prisoners. It instead imprisoned more press and political figures.
